Jan 2013: Suman has completed his 4th feature film 'Kangal Malsat' (War Cry of the Beggars). The film is awaiting certification.

Jan 2013: Suman is in post-production of his feature film 'Shesher Kobita,' (The Last Poem) based on Tagore's novel. The film is funded by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and NFDC, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. Cast: Rahul Bose and Konkona Sen Sharma.

Jan 2013: 'Man of the Heart' (Life and times of Lalon Phokir) shows in Kolkata. Invited to Rangashankara, Bangalore.

Suman is invited to Cannes Film Festival, 2012 as a part of the delegation of the new filmmakers of India.

April - May 2012: Suman is shooting in Meghalya for his film 'Shesher Kobita.'

Jan-Feb 2012: Suman shoots in Kolkata for his feature film 'Kangal Malsat.'

December 2011: Suman directs a new play 'Shunya Shudu Shunya Noy.'

Suman directed two plays: Tagore's "Bisarjan" and Shakespeare's "King Lear". Soumitra Chaterjee plays as Lear.

Suman's "Bisarjan" has been invited to National Theatre Festivals in New Delhi and Chennai organised by National School of Drama.

Suman has been awarded a Fellowship from British Academy.

Suman's play "Man of the Heart" has been invited to Barbican Centre London.

Chaturanga has been screened and selected at 55 national and international film festivals and won 6 international awards.
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
 
Suman Mukhopadhyay has directed five feature films Kangal Malsat (completed), Shesher Kobita (in post-prodcution), Mahanagar@Kolkata (2009), Chaturanga (2008) and Herbert (2005). Herbert was given the National Award for Best Regional Film. Suman has done productions ranging from European drama to major adaptations of Bengali masterpieces and productions of Indian plays. To mention a few: King Lear, Bisarjan, Teesta Paarer Brittanto, Mephisto, Raktakarabi, Little Clay Cart, Nagamandala, Man of the Heart and Fireface. He has been conferred with many awards and participated in various national and international theatre and film festivals. He was a British Academy Fellow and recently invited to Barbican Centre, London with the play Man of the Heart.
